A Week Goes By In Whangerei
Well another week gone by in Whangarei, the aussie sticks to his task but lady luck eludes the Darwin lad. Hopes are still high because it seems things move slower than they do in Darwin, which I thought would be impossible. Because in Darwin itís the tropical way, and they say the NT (as in Northern Territory) stands for Not Today, Not Tomorrow, Next Time!!

Had an interview for a security guard job which seems ideal for what we plan to do here In NZ. It is 4 days on, 4 days off, doing day patrol, unlocking/locking clientsí premises, handling alarm activations, running errands and looking like a security guard. Low pressure position!
So one interview outta 6 job applications and a lotta door knocking.
Still enjoying the scenery and soaking up the feel of this laid back area, similar to Darwin in that regard, but without the oppressive heat.
Getting used to the different ways they do things, the self serve food shops, too much regulation in Aussie to allow people to access food a la cafeteria style, or maybe no one has thought of doing it NZ style!! And the size of a large Cafe Latte, a soup bowl with a double shot of coffee to kick start the day!!
The weekend has arrived and I have escaped the confines of the Whangarei and am rugged up in a drizzly rainy day in Matapouri, for the long weekend that signifies the summer tourist season, and so the hills around this normal sleepy hollow are aglow with the lights of holiday homes filled with the Big city (Auckland) flock.
Anyway till next time this is a chilly philly signing off
